Fit a lot o’ farewells!

What a summer I’ve had!

Where to begin… Well it began with an ending. Several in fact. An end to 9 years in Glasgow. A final farewell was said to a city where I have had some good and bad times.

Firstly I ended my career in anaesthetics (8 weeks early) with a month in Maternity. I loved Maternity. The comradery, the urgency of action required, the frequent long gaps in the day where all I had to do was watch episode after episode of 24 or Heroes! And the midwives of course… I got on well with them which I’m sure made my time there much more enjoyable.

There was a farewell “Afternoon in the Park” which I organised for all at the Vic. All turned out who could… and a fun day of secret BBQing and sneaky beers was had by all.

My final night out ending in the old Clatty Pats (now VIPER) which was fine by me as it is the closest ‘club’ to my flat for the end of night stumble home.

Ouch!

My final week was made all the more fun by Kristin being here for it and she had brought a friend from Switzerland over (Andrea) which gave me the impetus to organise a fun packed time to do all the things I wanted to do but never got round to in Glasgow. The best of which was going to Loch Fyne Oyster Bar after a dander in the hills for a sensational seafood experience.

Also made it to see the Proclaimers’ Musical ‘Sunshine on Leith’ which was great – for me and for introducing KP and Andrea to the East Coast accent!

My final farewell was to my flat. My lovely flat!!!

It sold within 2 weeks of being on the market as most nice ones do in the West End nowadays and suffice to say it did well! I will miss it I’m sure… but I won’t miss the noise of West Princes Street, nor the useless factors and smelly smokers downstairs. I’ll be back to Glasgow and hopefully will still know someone to visit that is still there after the MMC timebomb this August!
