An End to a Beginning and a Beginning of a New End:

Kristin wasn’t the best at shipping all her stuff prior to this last trip… In an effort to firstly decrease our excess costs, and secondly to ensure that in case our baggage didn’t make it through Belgrade in time for the Slovenian wedding we were off to… I travelled in my kilt. A blessing in disguise really as we had a miniscule period of time to switch planes in Belgrade and because of my attire we were hastened to the front of a slow moving queue and punted on the plane. All the travel plans had gone without a hitch (this time!!!)

We arrived in Slovenia and had a lovely weekend around Bob & Hannah’s wedding. Bridge of Allan met Grimsby and had an amazing wedding in a Slovenian vineyard.


Beautiful surroundings, outdoor meal, candle-lit speeches, famous band(s) & orgasmic music surely made this the best wedding I have ever had the pleasure in being invited to (not forgetting to mention my beautiful wedding-partner!).



6 pipers, a tenor drummer and a side drummer made up the Vipava Valley Diamond Highlanders and I may say we were pretty good!







Fireworks and a pipe off in the bus ended the evening that saw us back in Ljubljana for 4am.

It was great to see them get married in style. I met Bob and HC during my first official date with Kristin. I had barely hit town in Slovenia when she asked if I wanted to go out for dinner. And was it OK if there were a few others? Around 10 or so?! “No! Why should I mind that?!” I asked. But I passed the test... I think



A period of recovery will have to wait after this most fantabulous summer I have just had as we’re off to Shetland!!! Today started our ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’ journey… Plane to Gatwick, train to Aberdeen, car to Aboyne… an evening with my family before repacking and getting on a plane to Shetland tomorrow evening. Shetland being the new end to the means of me finishing my training. I’ve been looking forward to this for ages, as has KP and all I have left to say is “BRING IT ON!” Here beginneth the new chapter of KP and Matt in Scotland.
